11. Evaluation's Role in Production

Once delivery methods and instructional methodologies have been selected, production may commence. A formative evaluation may be conducted with sample content created early in the production process. Usability studies (a type of formative evaluation) can provide the first data on the quality of fit between content, delivery methods, instructional methodologies, and the target audience. Although, the project has reached the production stage, adjustments may be made in light of information collected during usability studies.
